Please note: It is recommended that you consult your Systems Administrator prior to making any changes to you system if you are unsure what to do.
Currently identified problems and solutions:
Run-Time Error 50003
Symptom:
On some systems, when the CD is loaded into the drive, the start-up screen loads correctly but then crashes with the error message "Run-time error 50003".
Cause:
Some computers may either be equipped with a bad build of one of the operating system components (Grid ActiveX) or do not have the file installed. This prevents normal operations of any application calling this component.
Solution:
- Insert the CD into the CD-ROM drive.
- Run Windows Explorer to explore the contents of the CD.
- Open the folder "Creator".
- Double-click the file "Setup", which contains the set-up program to install Multiple-Choice Test Creator.
- Follow the instructions in the set-up program to install MC Test Creator.
- Double-click your hard-drive icon (e.g., labelled "My Computer").
- Double-click the PsyPress CD icon.
The CD should run without this problem henceforth.
Printer Error
Symptom:
On some systems when attempting to view the hard copy of the multiple-choice test, or attempting to print, the error message "Printer error" appears and the program crashes.
Cause:
While the program does not need to be connected to a printer to function, it does assume that a printer driver has been installed in the PC's history. Hence if no printer driver is installed then this assumption causes the program to hang-up.
Solution:
- If you have a printer that you are likely to wish to connect to the PC then install its printer driver.
- If you do not have a printer then install ANY printer driver (this will not harm your system).
- To install a printer driver, select: "Start > Settings > Printers" then double-click the icon labelled "Add Printer".
- Follow the instructions, either selecting the make and model of your printer, or click on "Have Disk" if you have the driver disks that came shipped with your PC, or select the first option and click "Next".
Once a printer drive is installed the program will no longer hang-up, except that it may attempt to send matter to the printer, in which case select "Start > Settings > Printers", double-click the icon for the driver just installed and from the "Printer" pull-down menu option select "Purge print documents".
